Scandinavia: Spring barley planting estimates lower in Finland and Denmark, unchanged in Sweden this year
Planting estimates of spring barley for Finland are 439,000 ha (486,000 ha last year), Denmark 541,000 ha (590,000 ha), Sweden 300,000 ha (unchanged), H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in August.
Harvest has started in Scandinavia and continues slowly due to unstable weather, results so far seem good.
This year a normal North European barley production is very necessary for sufficient malting supplies in the EU, the analysts said.
